Kiernan “AKA” Forbes has once again bagged another prestigious award after winning, in his absentia, the DSTV Content Creator Award Song of the Year for Lemons (Lemonade) featuring Nasty C.
The rapper who succumbed to his death after being shot in Durban earlier this year left behind a fully finished album that got many people saying it is his best work ever. The Mass Country album features hits such as Company which features KIDDO, Prada featuring Khuli Chana, Sponono featuring Sjava, and many more.
AKA’s mother Lynn Forbes collected the award on behalf of her late son and shared:
“Kiernan was a an amazing creative but this room is full of creative people and I wouldn’t be holding this if use didn’t use the song somewhere. If you make it trend and use it in your content, so thank you for having me stand on here tonight and take this, in the honour of my son.”
She also later shared the award acceptance video on her social media sharing how proud she was of the kind of human her late son was.
Lynn shared:
“The ways in which Kiernan has been honoured, in the month’s following his death, speaks volumes. The recognition, tributes and pouring out of love is bigger than his talent as an artist, it’s a reflection of the human being he was, the impact he made and the legacy he created. Today I feel blessed that he chose me to be his mom. I am a proud mother with a very grateful heart.”
