Sibongile and the Dlaminis star Slindile Nodongala are set to leave the Mzansi Wethu hit series due to her demands not being met.
According to the entertainment publication, ZiMoja, Slindile’s portrayal of Deliwe Mbambo will be coming as she parted ways with the production company because they didn’t not change one of the character’s names as she requested.
Silndile is not the first cast member to leave the show, as Luyanda Zwane who played Sibongile Mbambo left just before season 2 aired which she told the entertainment publication was because of her contract not being renewed at the end of the first season.
A close source told ZiMoja that the actress wanted the character’s name to change because it was the same name as her pastor which she felt was disrespectful at times, and later resulted in not being able to do her scenes.
“She said she wanted to honour her priest by not using the name. She became uncomfortable sharing scenes with the character because she felt like she was being disrespectful to her priest,” adding, “Then she chose the easiest way out, to walk out of the series. There were instances when she could not even pronounce the character’s name when she was doing her scenes because she felt bad.”
While Slindile’s sudden departure is still confusing, the channel director of local entertainment, Shirley Adonisi, told the source mentioned above that Slindile’s character was being written out of the show. She added that Slindile left because she was not happy with the direction in which the story was evolving as more characters were introduced.
