Shaka Illembe actor Siyabonga Shibe has allegedly failed to deliver on a bursary promise to young filmmakers.

Siyabonga’s foundation called Dima Productions pledged to take responsibility for funding the educational costs of various students.

The students’ who names are; Nqobile Mvuyane, Nothile Mvelase and Mbali Mlotshwa were selected as recipients of bursaries awarded by this foundation in order to facilitate their attendance at AFDA – considered Johannesburg’s most prominent film school.

According to entertainment publication, ZiMoja, the actor failed to pay the fees of these recipients leaving the young filmmakers owing the private film institution over R150 000 each in fees.

The students told the entertainment publication that they were disappointed in the actor not delivering on his promise to pay their fees and one student said that Siyabonga was not answering their calls, adding that, he told them to stop calling him.

As a result of the actor’s non deliverance, the students had to drop out and find other avenues in order to get bursaries.

His manager told the entrainment publication that, “I will only know the way forward regarding this matter when he returns home. We have not discussed the bursary details yet.”

Many X (former Twitter) users took to the comment section to express their disappointment in the actor.

Another user questioned the fact that the students owe so much money and later posed the question of why they didn’t enroll in institutions that were less expensive.

They owe R150k each? why don’t they go for cheaper schools if they don’t have money?? ??‍♂️
