One of Mzansi’s leading male actors is relishing the opportunity of being in demand in the country. While he has recently become one of the most admired people in the acting industry the talented Kwenzo Ngcobo has been battling with grief for a large part of 2023.

In March last year, he was faced with the difficult responsibility of trying to keep himself together while dealing with the passing of his father, whom he describes as one of the pillars of his life.

The young actor earned the attention of many in the industry after impressing everyone with his portrayal of Qhawe Zulu in the Showmax original, The Wife. While the prospect of earning even bigger roles was staring him in the face, a bigger reality was the fact that his father was no longer there.

Speaking to local entertainment publication, The SowetanLive, he shared that he was put in a position where he needed to find balance with what he was going through.

“Life after The Wife was quite rewarding and challenging at the same time. I lost my dad shortly after we finished shooting the series last March,” he said.

The 32-year-old describes himself as being the type of person who keeps his personal life private and therefore did not want any of his colleagues noticing that he was down, “I didn’t want what I was going through to affect my job. I knew I had to bring my A-Game despite what I was going through.”

“In the same breath, I had to find a balance and not neglect the tough phase I was in. I’m very grateful I had a supportive system around me. My crew as well as my family helped me through this trying time,” said Kwenzo.

He added that he currently finds it easy to secure international roles, and credits all the achievements to the support that he was shown by his parents.

“He was very proud of my success and how far my passion got me. When I was studying and trying this acting thing out with theatre shows, my mom and dad were very supportive… they were the fuel I needed to keep going despite the financial constraints.”

With all the sadness behind him, the talented actor is now enjoying his new role in Netflix’ Soon Comes Night.
