
Actor and singer, Abdul Khoza has penned an earnest letter to the entertainment industry, where he exposed fames double-edged sword to artists.
The renowned thespians known for multiple roles he played on screens that include Isibaya, Kings of Joburg and The Wife among others has candidly wrote about the pitfalls of fame and how he once touched many lives through the roles he portrayed leading to some dreams coming true, and how in the midst of it all he remains a forgotten dream.
“I remember the young boy who’d lost faith in himself, on the verge of surrender. But then, my record played, weaving a tapestry of peace, harmony and freedom. The words resonated deep within him, inspiring him to rise deep within his, inspiring him to rise above his struggles,” he penned.
Resonating to the words of the man on top of the hill, Abdul said: “They call me an actor, musician, painter or writer, but I am simply an artist driven by an insatiable passion. They celebrate my work, but little do they know, I’m broken, just like them. I’m a slave to the very craft that once set me free,” he shared.

Abdul’s candid letter touched his industry colleagues and Instagram users, prompting them to share their experiences with the entertainment industry and show him support.
Instagram user said: “We owe Vathiswa Ndara an apology. She stood alone when you all knew she was telling the truth. We support you, but you guys must also be one unity.”
Comedian Thenjiwe said: “South Africa hates talent. They love mediocrity. If you are black and talented, they chew you up very fast and as soon as they realise that you know your worth, they spit you out. Keep shining and may you find ways to use Morden technology to create opportunities for yourself,
you are in my prayers.”
