A list of celebrities who became parents in 2024

The year 2024 has been one filled with mixed emotions for many South Africans. While some may have experienced a year of challenging times which ultimately turned into lessons – others, however, have been given plenty of reasons to smile.

This year marked the beginning of a new chapter for several South African celebrities some of whom not only started new journeys as a married couple, but others have gone on to welcome new members into their families by announcing their pregnancies.

In this article, we look back at some of mzansi’s biggest celebrities who have announced their pregnancies and become parents this year.

Angela Atlang

The Muvhango actress Angela Atlang welcomed her baby Arie in February this year. This comes after the actress who is also a born-again Christian first shared the news of her pregnancy via a photo shoot. Later she shared a picture of her little one following his birth followed by a heartwarming post.

Shane Eagle

While rappers are usually seen as these hardcore entertainers, South Africans recently saw a different side to the Need Me hitmaker Shane Eagle. In July this year, he and his girlfriend Nicole Swartz welcomed the birth of their firstborn, baby Gia. In a post ,the rapper said that fatherhood was the greatest gift he ever received.

Handre Pollard

Following their success at the 2023 Rugby World Cup, several Springbok players took to social media platforms to reveal their pregnancies. Among these were the likes of Bongi Mbonambi, Eben Etzebeth, Herchel Jantjies, Makazole Mapimpi, Faf de Klerk, as well as Handre Pollard.

The Springbok flyhalf and his wife Marise introduced baby Hunter to the world in April this year and have been enjoying the role of first-time parents ever since.

Tamaryn Green-Nxumalo

The sporting world is not the only one to celebrate, but so does the world of pageantry. This comes after Miss South Africa 2018 winner, Tamaryn Green-Nxumalo and her husband Ze revealed announced their pregnancy in August. The announcement came on the day that the model and certified medical doctor celebrated her 30th birthday.

Zoe Brown

Since relocating from South Africa to Australia, life has been nothing short of amazing for the former Expresso presenter Zoe Brown and her husband Robbie Anderson. After marking one year since tying the knot in the beautiful town of Robertson in the Western Cape last year, the couple have recently announced that they are expecting twins.

While 2024 has given South African celebrities lots to be happy about, next year promises to exceed expectations.
