‘A house is a liability to me’ -Internet reacts to Prince Kaybee

by Bongiwe Mati

Multi hit maker and businessman Kabelo Motsamai famously known as Prince Kaybee is a man who doesn’t mind sharing his opinion on social matters he feels strongly about.

He also does not mind going head-to-head with industry mates as he recently did with DJ Maphorisa, when Phori revealed that he takes ownership of songs and masters recorded in his studio.

The Gugulethu hitmaker slammed Phori, adding that he disagreed with what he stands for.

Recently, the father of two commented on Penuel Mlotshwa’s X (formerly known as tweet) where the podcaster shared that the monthly costs of a property make it hard for it to be seen as an assert.

“Whether Robert Kiyosaki or Accounting Principles… ordinary property chows’ money every month. If you’re lucky, you’ll sell one day at a profit. But there’s a chance you can also sell at a loss. The monthly costs of a property make it hard to see it as an asset. Semantics.”

Prince Kaybee voiced out his views, commenting:

“Let them howl, a house is a liability to me, to them it’s an accounting phenomenon, cool.”

Internet users shared their views after seeing the Charlotte hitmaker’s response to Penuel’s X, commenting:

A house is not a liability it’s just expensive to acquire and to maintain , once you are done with the hefty repayments it becomes an asset.

One user told the deejay to stick to what he knows best (music) and leave other matters to professionals, commenting:

Kabelo please stick to the one’s and two’s chief and leave this stuff to Bo @VusiThembekwayo o tlogele go re tena.

Haona le matric nakweo.

There is a definition of an asset and a liability. Ha o na opinion in these areas because you are not an expert.

One user agreed with the deejay but also shared:

you are right!!! But it also depends on many factors (so it can be an asset)

And people need to remove the ideology of property is wealth; the risk of property earnings is higher than that for equities(shares) – which means the chance of you making a profit from property is low
