5 Times Bonko Khoza aces acting role

Bonko Khoza is a talented South African actor who has impressed audiences with his captivating performances.

His acting career began at a young age. He started performing in school plays, and his talent was recognized when he won a Regional Drama Award for his role in Captain Hook.

After completing his matric in 2009, he pursued various courses, including Fine Arts, Design and Multimedia, and Performance and Theatre Skills.

However, it wasn’t until 2015 that he made his professional screen acting debut in the feature film Necktie Youth, earning a Best Actor Nomination at the Tribeca Film Festival for his role as Jabz.

Since then, we have seen him ace different characters in different movies and TV shows. Here are five times he aced his acting roles:

Mqhele Zulu in The Wife: His starring role as a taxi driver and husband to Hlomu (played by Mbalenhle Mavimbela) earned him a Safta award. His performance showcased his ability to portray complex characters with depth and nuance.

Jabz in Necktie Youth: Bonko’s breakout role in this critically acclaimed film earned him a Best Actor Nomination at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2015. His portrayal of Jabz demonstrated his talent for playing dynamic and thought-provoking characters.

Zakhele in 13 Weeks to Find Mr. Right: He took on the leading role of Zakhele in this SABC1 comedy-drama series, showcasing his versatility as an actor.

Sanele and Banele Magwaza in iTonga: In 2025, Bonko played twin brothers Sanele and Banele in the Mzansi Magic drama series iTonga, further demonstrating his range and talent.

Djatta Koro in Roots: He had a guest role in the HISTORY channel historical drama Roots, highlighting his ability to take on diverse roles and work with international talent.
