Mzansi prides itself as the birthplace to some individuals who have achieved global success and reached high platforms, shining the light on our multi-cultural country for the world to see.

We have compiled five South African celebrities who through their work and talent have put Mzansi on the global success map.

Black Coffee

The world-renowned DJ who has been a resident DJ at Spain’s Ibiza for many years recently headlined a show at New York’s Madisson Square Garden, filling it to full capacity and inviting his friends who have featured on his songs to perform with. Black Coffee also received international recognition when he won Best Dance/Electro Music Album for Subconsciously at the 64th Grammy Awards show in early 2022. He has also worked with international superstars such as Usher, Alicia Keys, Drake and many more.

Tyla

Imagine leaving your country to market your song in America and then have it blow up massively in many parts of the world. Well, that is what happened to Tyla’s song Water. The 21-year-old has seen success many artists reach after many years in the music industry. Not only did the singer receive a Best African Music Performance Grammy nomination for Water, but she also made the top 10 on the US Billboard charts, sitting nicely with superstars such as Mariah Carey.

Trevor Noah

It would be a shame not have Trevor Noah on the Mzansi global success stories list. The comedian, who has built a solid and financially rewarding career off his sense of humour, is regarded as one of Hollywood’s A-listers. Not only has Trevor successfully hosted The Daily Show, but he has also hosted the Grammy Awards three time and the 2022 White House Correspondence Dinner.
