The late Tito Mboweni’s alleged girlfriend details how they met

by Nomonde Simelane

The phrase ‘rest in peace’ has appeared to have lost its meaning to a woman who has come out to allege that she was in a relationship with the late Tito Mboweni. Taking to social media, the woman details how she and the politician met.

Lerato ‘Habiba’ Makhatho has quickly become the talk of the town after a clip of her narrating the story of how she and the late Tito Mboweni met and went on to establish an intimate relationship has made its way across various social media platforms.

According to Lerato, her hopping on to the StonTalk podcast to reveal details about her relationship with Tito and another minister, as well as shedding light on the realities of the lives of ‘slay queens’ is not in vain. Rather it is to raise awareness to the younger generations so they do not follow in the same footsteps.

In the now-trending clip, Habiba reveals that she and Tito met via Facebook after she received a notification that it was the former minister’s birthday. According to the self-proclaimed queen of Pretoria, Tito wasn’t someone she was too familiar with but knew his name due to his power and status. She then took the opportunity to send him a ‘Happy Birthday’ message via his dm’s, and to her surprise, she received a response from him.

As she narrates, this interaction was the beginning of their connection as his response “It’s a pity that I don’t have a cake” piqued her interest and led to the two exchanging WhatsApp numbers and migrating their conversation to the app.

As expected, social media users are having a time with this story, and some have expressed that they believe that coming out with this story now, after his death is unnecessary as he cannot speak for himself. These users believe that this is merely an attempt at chasing clout as Habiba has admitted that financially, things have not been looking great for her. Others have not held back their opinions on Habiba’s looks and overall temperament
