The Pretty Girls Love Maskandi event that was scheduled to take place in Strand has been postponed following the deadly mass shooting in Lwandle over the weekend.

The event was set to bring together Maskandi lovers for a day of live performances, DJs, dancing and entertainment. According to its event listing, the gathering was scheduled for 3 October in Nomzamo, Strand.
The postponement comes after a mass shooting at an entertainment venue in Lwandle, Strand, in the early hours of Sunday, 27 September 2026.

10 People killed in Lwandle shooting
Police said gunmen entered an entertainment venue that also operates as a shisanyama at about 01:46 and opened fire on patrons.
Ten people were killed in the attack, while another 11 sustained injuries and were receiving medical treatment. Police have opened murder and attempted murder cases, SABC News reported.
Western Cape Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Sizakhele Dyantyi established a multidisciplinary team led by serious violent crime detectives to investigate the shooting.
As of Monday, no arrests had been made, while police had increased deployments in the area as the search for the suspects continued.
Event postponed
Following the tragedy, organisers of ‘Pretty Girls Love Maskandi’ announced that the upcoming Strand event would not go ahead as originally planned.
The decision comes as the Lwandle community continues to deal with the aftermath of the shooting, which claimed the lives of eight men and two women.
The event celebrates Maskandi music and culture, with the organisers promising live performances, DJ sets, dancing and fashion. The event listing had advertised tickets from R100 and an 11:00 start.
The postponement also follows a particularly violent week in South Africa, with separate mass shootings in Lwandle and Wedela leaving at least 27 people dead and several others injured.
For the organisers and prospective attendees, the postponement comes amid heightened concern over safety as the Strand community mourns those killed in the Lwandle attack.
