In the early hours of 28 September 2026, a young woman’s body was discovered in Thembisa. Upon preliminary investigations, police suspected she was a victim of a robbery.
The victim was soon identified as Boitumelo Nhlanzi, whose family spoke up, sharing their suspicion of her husband’s alleged involvement.

Family suspects husband is involved
The victim’s uncle conducted an interview with eNCA, explaining the suspicions he has about the tragic murder of his niece. He explained that they called Nhlanzi’s husband after they identified her body, and the husband assured the family he would come to the scene.
After that initial call, the uncle says subsequent calls made to the family went unanswered. He explained that they went to the couple’s residence and found the husband was not there, noting claims the husband had been gone since 04:00.
The uncle also claimed that police didn’t find him at his residence.
He further revealed that the husband allegedly sent his own family a text message asking them to stay with his child in case a problem arises.
There have been no further updates on the husband’s whereabouts.

Thembisa shooting victim
Boitumelo Nhlanzi was reportedly shot and killed in the early hours of the morning on her way to work, in what police officers initially suspected to be a robbery. Police had immediately ruled out the victim’s death as part of a separate murder investigation in the Ekurhuleni area.
There have been no arrests made, and the husband is yet to be located. Investigations are still ongoing.
