What beauty facts do you know now that you wish you knew earlier in life?

SUNBLOCK! I wish I had used sunblock when I was younger. I have managed to take good care of my skin as an adult, but there are some effects caused by exposure to the sun that I can’t reverse now.

What is your favourite make-up/beauty trend?

Love the minimal make-up look with light, summery lips and glowing skin. A little bit of shimmer on the cheeks gives you that healthy glow, while a light pink lip gloss adds to that freshness. This makes me look youthful and fresh during summer.

What is your favourite hairstyle and how do you maintain it?

My hair has remained consistent with the short, natural ‘organised mess’ afro. It’s so easy to maintain. I wash and moisturise my hair with a non-greasy spray. I use a deep conditioner every two weeks just to ensure it stays soft and strong. I have recently tinted it a brown colour, so I need to ensure that I keep replenishing it with moisture.

Do you have dry/oily/combined/sensitive skin and how do you care for it?

My skin is quite dry, so I use a super hydrating moisturiser on my face and body – a homemade remedy of tissue oil, cocoa butter, glycerine and clear sunblock. This is premixed so I just apply it every morning.

What does beauty mean to you?

It’s about being comfortable with who you are, doing the best with what you have and wearing your skin with pride.

What’s your favourite part of your face and why?

I think I have gorgeous eyes and a pretty smile. (smiles)

What beauty item can you never leave the house without?

My lip conditioner. I have dry lips, and if I go without moisturiser it’s a real problem for me.

What beauty advice can you share with us?

I’m of the opinion that beauty is more about what you put into your body. Good food, plenty of water, lots of rest and exercise are essential. It’s not a cliché, but it’s true that if you feel good, you look good.
