Netflix celebrates Africa Day with the Made in Africa collection

Netflix is celebrating Africa Day with some of the best collection of films, series and documentaries titled the Made in Africa. The collection which has over 100 titles and will be available globally will run for the month of May to coincide with Africa month.

The collection consists of films and series from across the continent such as Castle and Castle, Lionheart, Tjovitjo, Tsotsi, and Jerusalema. The streaming giant’s original African series Queen Sono and the Blood and Water also form part of the collection.

A few international movies that were shot on the continent will also feature in the collection. These include Beasts of No Nation, which was shot in Ghana, 2006’s Blood Diamond (South Africa, Sierra Leone, and Morocco), and the documentary Virunga (Congo) to name a few.

Speaking on the Made in Africa collection, Netflix’s Director of Licensing and Co-productions for Africa Ben Amadasun said in part; “At Netflix, we’re obsessed with improving the consumer experience and believe that the ‘Made in Africa’ collection will help our members around the world to discover their next favourite African show as the world celebrates Africa Month (and Africa Day on 25 May). Furthermore, we strongly believe that great stories can come from anywhere and be loved everywhere and we’re excited to see these “Made in Africa” titles will be enjoyed and “Watched by the World’.
