Busiswa Gqulu on the importance of representation in magazines

by Bongiwe Tshiqi

Our incredibly talented May cover star, Busiswa Gqulu took to Instagram this week to share her feelings around her first cover shoot. The ‘Starring’ hit maker told her followers that she was glad that brands like BONA were celebrating women of different shapes, sizes and talents:

It’s about all the girls who’ve been told the same things I’ve heard: “you’re too big”, “you must do more than talk in your songs”, ? “you were better off as a poet, for your body-type “?”what will you do if you run out of ideas?”,?”we don’t design plus-sizes here”… well 5 years in the music industry & there is one thing I know for sure: I AM ENOUGH!! YOU are enough

We are so glad that we were able to participate in the celebration of this amazing star and all-round human being. Make sure you get the May issue which is on stands now to learn about how she persevered through her difficult childhood, made a name for herself and her new role as a mother.

Trust us, you don’t want to miss it!

Here are some videos and pics of the star celebrating her cover.
