Berita bounces back

by Bongiwe Tshiqi

After her second album failed to impress her fans, Berita went back to the drawing board. She is back with a new look and single ahead of the release of her third album.

1. I’m back with an uptempo and groovy sound. I took some time off from the industry to meditate and reignite my connection with music. This was because my second album did not do well. The break led me to a beautiful, rewarding and spiritual journey that made me more in touch with my music.

2. My mind is now open to new things. I used to shy away from bold and colourful prints. But, I have now decided to embrace an edgy and bold Afrocentric look. Simple, short hair and braids were my go-to hairstyles, and I now experiment with headwraps and different haircuts. My style has changed because I’m growing and learning.

3. Surprises is the name of my single ahead of my third album release titled Berita. Writing lyrics for this single moved me to try a different sound and it came out great. I was pleasantly surprised that it’s more uplifting and inspirational. My album will be released in March, and I can’t wait to share it with my fans.

4. Unshakeable passion is important in the music industry. I have learnt to trust my passion and be resilient in pursuing my music career. It can really be hard, but it’s important to know that giving up in not an option. I’m about to release my third album because I didn’t give up, and my passion keeps me going.
