Gqom artist DJ Lag’s EP is up for Grammy consideration. Titled Uhuru, the six-track project was released through renowned American producer Diplo’s imprint label Good Enuff in August. The star also makes history as the first Gqom artist to be considered for the awards.
DJ Lag shared his excitement at the news saying in part: “A nomination for a Grammy would mean that I can continue to show the world where I come from, what my music means to me and my people.”
He added: ”The dream is big, but so is the support of my community. It already feels like a win.”
This comes three months after he produced My Power on Beyoncé’s The Lion King: The Gift album.
