With his upcoming concert, themed The Love Concert, in South Africa on Valentine’s Day, we have a quick chat with the legendary Johnny Gill about all things love.
How are you feeling about your upcoming performance in SA?
I am so excited about coming to South Africa; I love the amazing culture and vibe. The feedback from my fans here has been amazing.
You will be here for a love concert. What does love mean to you?
Love means something you really care about and is unconditional. You love that something so much, till you can’t even express how you feel.
What do you love most about LOVE?
It’s how it brings peace, assurance and hope in our lives – how we feel about certain people and things and how loving someone makes you feel good and brings peace to the soul.
How long will you be in SA?
For a short while, unfortunately! This is because I am also currently touring for my current album Game Changer, but I am definitely coming back.
What other parts of SA will you explore if you have the time?
Sadly, I won’t be able to stay after the concert, but I look forward to returning very soon. I hope to do some sightseeing when I arrive a couple days before the concert.
What are you looking forward to the most in SA?
The fans, of course. I look forward to hopefully going on a mini safari, do some shopping and seeing as much as I can while I am here.
What can we expect from your performance at the Love concert?
Definitely My,My,My; Rub You The Right Way; Fairweather Friend and Behind Closed Doors from my new album Game Changer. Also as many classics as I can and of course my newer songs In The Mood, It Would Be You…the list goes on. I may throw in a couple of duets that I was a part of…THE SHOW WILL BE HOTTTT!!!
