by Zaghrah Anthony

Wiseman Mncube Ties the Knot in Cultural Celebration

Actor Wiseman Mncube, known for his roles in Shaka iLembe and Uzalo, has officially said “I do” to model and costume designer Nokubonga Ngobeni in a stunning traditional wedding held in Vryheid, KwaZulu-Natal, over the weekend.

While official wedding photos have yet to be released, social media has been flooded with videos capturing the vibrant celebrations, offering fans a glimpse into the joyous union of the couple.

A Wedding Rich in Culture: The Umbondo Ceremony

The couple’s ceremony featured the important umbondo ritual, where the bride’s family presents gifts—usually groceries and food—to the groom’s family. This tradition follows the payment of lobola (bride price) and izibizo (gifts from the groom’s family), symbolising the bride’s role as a provider and formally uniting the two families before the final ceremony, known as Umabo.

Ngobeni dazzled in traditional Tsonga attire, while Mncube, proudly Zulu, wore ibheshu and umqhele, reflecting the blending of cultures and deep respect for their heritage.

Friends, Family, and Musical Moments

Close friends and family were in attendance, including actors like Thembinkosi Mthembu (Adulting, Shaka iLembe). Videos shared online show Mncube and Ngobeni singing “Joy” by The Soil at their reception, capturing the happiness and intimacy of the occasion.

The celebration was a testament not just to love, but also to resilience. Fans were reminded of Mncube’s journey, marked by tragedy in 2017 when he lost his first wife in a shooting incident. He and his late wife share a daughter, Lwandle. The actor revealed in a Podcast and Chill interview with MacG and Sol Phenduka that he received the heartbreaking news while on set.

Despite this devastating loss, Mncube has continued to build his family. He and Ngobeni welcomed their first son in 2020 and have been growing their family ever since, celebrating life and love together.

A Star on and Off Screen

Mncube’s acting career continues to thrive. He has starred in hit series such as eHostela (season 1), Generations, Gold Diggers, Ngozi, Mamello, Ring of Lies, Sokhulu & Partners, The Kingdom, and Uzalo (seasons 5 and 6). His role as Zwide in Shaka iLembe has cemented his place as a beloved figure in Mzansi Magic dramas. He is also praised for his performance in The Wife.
