This past week the annual application process for Miss South Africa 2024 was officially opened and just like every year, thousands of young women between the ages of twenty and thirty all rushed in to grab hold of the opportunity.
As with prior years, the application process was relatively simple. All that aspiring hopefuls were required to do was to shoot a short video clip telling the rest of the country who they were and why they should be the next Miss SA. The next step was to fill out an online application and attach the link of the social media video to the application before the submission date.
Despite many hopefuls being praised for their confident video entries, one young lady from Durbanville in Cape Town found herself at the centre of criticism at the hands of the public.
Susan Müller, a 20-year-old university student was upon after many because of her appearance and the delivery of her video.

Despite being perfectly confident and portraying herself in the best way possible, Susan found the comment section flooded with nasty posts.
Taking to comments one person wrote:
“Not too late to take this video down.”
While another wrote: “You could have brushed your teeth at least.”
While a third blamed her family and friends for “hyping” her way too much.
Despite this, Susan came back to the trolls, highlighting how she felt her entry was worth the risk.
Later, several former Miss South Africa pageant winners applauded Susan for her confidence.
Reigning Miss SA Natasha Joubert wrote: “I’m proud of you Susan! The way you reply to everyone with so much grace and friendliness. I wish you the best for the journey.”
Another former winner entering the comments was Cindy Nell: “You are beautiful. You are unique. You are worthy, and we at @acemodelsintl can support you on your road to success in the modeling and beauty industry.
“Dream big! You can achieve anything. Believe! Take action. You already took the first step by putting yourself out there. So, start growing. Be proud, lots of love.”
