Mr Moloto faces 7 extra charges in court

Famous anti-drug activist Phillimon ‘Mr Moloto’ Moloto is now facing seven extra charges after his brief court appearance yesterday, 22 September 2026, at the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court.

The activist was initially facing two charges after allegedly setting his former partner’s car alight. Now he is facing nine charges, including attempted murder and arson.

LADGAC founder back in court

The founder of the Limpopo Anti-drug Gangsterism and Crime (LADGAC) is now facing criminal charges himself. Mr Moloto was brought into court and charged with two counts of malicious property damage on 28 June 2026 after a reported incident in which he allegedly torched his former partner Lebo Rachidi’s bakkie.

The fire allegedly spread to the house where Rachidi’s family was sleeping. The activist is currently out on R50,000 bail and was ordered by the court not to contact Rachidi or visit her residence and workplace.

Lebo Rachidi believes justice may prevail

In an interview with Jacaranda FM’s News Watch, businesswoman Lebo Rachidi shared that she now believes they may be going somewhere in terms of the case, claiming that there was yet another incident where she reported the accused and the case allegedly didn’t go anywhere.

She explained to Daily Sun that she has been living in constant fear and paranoia, believing that someone is out to get her.

Docket sent to DPP

Limpopo NPA spokesperson Mashudu Malabi confirmed that the charges against Mr Moloto range from attempted murder to arson and that the docket has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), awaiting the decision on whether the trial will be held in the High Court or a regional court.

Daily Sun reports that she did confirm that the State believes they have a strong case against the accused.

Magistrate Rodgers Machovani has postponed the matter to 30 October 2026 for a directive from the DPP on the appropriate court jurisdiction.
