Some of us are conscious of the condition of our skin. This is why we tend to put the right amount of effort into ensuring that how we present ourselves makes a lasting impression on those we come in contact with.

But for some, this may feel easier said than done. This is because of a well-known skin condition called Eczema.

“Eczema is a skin condition that causes dry and itchy patches of skin. It’s a common condition that isn’t contagious. Symptoms of eczema can flare up if you contact with an irritant or an allergen. There are treatments available to help you manage symptoms, but there isn’t a cure,” explains medical publication Cleveland Clinic.

According to the reputable eye care specialist Specsavers, about one in every ten people experience eczema during their lifetime.

While the flare-ups of this skin condition are often impacted by external elements such as cold and dry weather, dampness, dust mites, animals, pollen, and molds – another contributing factor is found in the foods that people consume.

Healthcare publication Medical News Today explains that the food people eat is known to trigger the body to release immune system compounds and this causes a flare-up on the surface of one’s skin. Although these foods may not directly cause eczema, they do cause flare-ups which results in constant itching and irritation.

To avoid these from happening in the future, health and wellness publication Healthline has recommended that those suffering from eczema stay away from the foods mentioned below:

  • Cow’s milk
  • Peanuts
  • Eggs
  • Soy products
  • Wheat
  • Tree nuts
  • Fish
  • Shellfish

The publication mentions that although some of these foods may be perfectly fine for some, the effects are severe for others.
