How sleeping with makeup damages your skin

Some of us have lazy days where we just jump into bed without removing our make-up, forgetting that this may cause long term effects on our skin.

According to the Dermalogica site, sleeping with make-up invites bacteria to your skin, clogging your pores, creating breakouts and blackheads. Although you won’t see this in an instant, overtime the make-up residue will damage your skin.

Although Make-up won’t instantly cause a breakout to your skin, you have sensitive areas such as your eyes. If you apply mascara and eyeliner, make sure you wipe it off before you sleep, as the area is very sensitive.

According to housekeeping there are things you should be aware of for sleeping with make-up.

Your skin breaking out – You need to cleanse your skin using wipes that are sensitive to your skin. Clean out the dirt and dead skin.

Maintain a glowing skin – By regularly washing your face, you stand a better chance of having healthier, fresher looking skin.

To avoid premature aging – this happens when your skin has trapped dirt and on the verge of breaking out. Normalize washing your face frequently before jumping into bed and not only using wipes.

If your face has acne – It is advised that you don’t even occasionally sleep with make-up, check the products to use, so that they are sensitive to your skin. You want to avoid any chance of infecting your skin.

Developing skin rashes – Some make-up products have irritants like dye and perfumes and leaving them on your skin may cause inflammation.

Taking care of your skin brings you great confidence, making this your daily ritual will result to a beautiful glowing skin.
