Dream nails review

by Keletso Modisakeng

A perfect manicure at Dream Nails in Cresta. The brand is over 30 years old.

I have recently stopped using acrylic. These nails are made with a powder dipped in solvent, and are usually used to lengthen the nail or provide a stronger top layer over the natural one. I now have other options – gel and Gelish nails. Gel comes in nail polish shades, and is hardened by being cured under a UV or LED lamp. Gel paint is commonly known as Gelish, which is a paint name and not a form of nail work. A layer of Gelish is painted, and then repainted repeatedly until you have a solid colour.

During my manicure session, I was disappointed that my nail technician didn’t introduce herself, even though she wore a badge. An introduction makes it more personal and easier to talk to. Thumbnails are tricky to get correctly, and your technician should remind you how to place your hand under the lamp. I was only reminded later, which resulted in my nail having a bubble.

Apart from that, thank you to Dream Nails for my perfect manicure. I will be coming back to try out more treatments.
