Tyson Fury teases return

Despite swirling speculation and social media hints from Tyson Fury, his promoters at Queensberry Promotions confirmed they have had no discussions with the former heavyweight champion since his loss to Oleksandr Usyk in December.

Fury, 36, has remained largely silent following his second consecutive defeat to the Ukrainian—this time by unanimous decision—just months after dropping a split decision in their first bout. Following the December loss, Fury announced his retirement from boxing, once again raising doubts about his long-term plans.

Queensberry’s focus is currently on their July 19 event at Wembley Stadium, headlined by the rematch between Usyk and Daniel Dubois. Tickets went on sale this week, with promotional duties underway. At the same time, reports have emerged that Jarrell Miller may withdraw from his June 7 bout against Fabio Wardley.

Still, Fury’s presence looms large over the division. On Monday, while Usyk and Dubois were launching their promotional tour, Fury posted a video from the gym. Filming himself alongside longtime coach SugarHill Steward, he teased fans by saying, “I just bumped into somebody you might know. You know what’s coming.”

The clip fueled speculation of a third Usyk fight—one that Fury clearly desires. Later that day, he addressed Usyk directly via another social media video: “Beat the fucker two times and the world knows the truth… any time, any place… UK next time, 100k people.”

Fury’s career has been marked by dramatic exits and returns. After dethroning Wladimir Klitschko in 2015, he stepped away from boxing due to personal struggles, including depression and a failed drug test. He returned in 2018 and reclaimed heavyweight gold in 2020 by stopping Deontay Wilder.

Since then, he has toyed with retirement on multiple occasions—most notably after beating Dillian Whyte in 2022. Yet he went on to face Derek Chisora, Francis Ngannou, and twice Oleksandr Usyk.

Whether Fury’s latest hint is another bluff or the beginning of a genuine comeback remains to be seen. But if he is serious, the appetite for a third fight with Usyk is undeniable—and Fury knows it.text
