Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond turned himself in to police Thursday on a sexual assault warrant, just weeks before the NFL Draft. The 21-year-old was released after posting $25,000 bail.
Details of the allegations have not been disclosed, but Bond has denied any wrongdoing. In a statement posted to social media, he said the claims are “patently false.”
“Regarding the accusation made against me, I would appreciate the time and opportunity to defend myself and prove the claims made, patently false,” Bond wrote on X. “I am in full cooperation with the authorities and will remain a willing and active participant in the investigation.”
Bond added that such allegations are “harmful to all involved” and asked the public to reserve judgment until a full investigation is complete.
Bond spent the 2023 season with Texas, where he emerged as a key offensive weapon after the departures of Xavier Worthy and Adonai Mitchell. He finished with 34 receptions for 540 yards and five touchdowns.
He declared for the NFL Draft shortly after Texas was eliminated in the College Football Playoff by Ohio State, who went on to win the national title. Bond is projected to be a second-day draft pick.
Before transferring to Texas, Bond played two seasons at Alabama. One of his most memorable moments came in his final game with the Crimson Tide, when he caught a game-winning touchdown from Jalen Milroe on 4th-and-31 against Auburn in the Iron Bowl.
That win helped Alabama reach the SEC Championship, where they beat Georgia. However, the Tide’s season ended with a loss to Michigan in the Rose Bowl.
Bond’s legal situation could impact his draft stock, with the NFL Draft set to begin later this month.
