The Dallas Cowboys could be turning to a familiar face as they explore roster upgrades ahead of the 2025 NFL season.
With owner Jerry Jones yet to deliver the “substantive trades” he promised before the draft, the team is now showing mutual interest in a reunion with former Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper, according to ESPN.
While the Cowboys’ main priority remains locking down star pass rusher Micah Parsons with a contract extension, there’s reportedly enough flexibility in their budget to consider help at wide receiver. Cooper, currently a free agent, is among the most notable names still available.
The 30-year-old has drawn limited attention on the open market after a lackluster stint with the Buffalo Bills in late 2024. Concerns about his long-term impact have cooled league-wide interest, but Dallas could benefit from his experience, especially with limited proven depth behind No. 1 receiver CeeDee Lamb. Brandin Cooks departed in free agency, leaving Jalen Tolbert, Jonathan Mingo, and KaVontae Turpin as the top supporting options.
Cooper previously thrived in Dallas from 2019 to 2021, topping 1,100 yards in back-to-back seasons and helping the Cowboys reach the playoffs twice. He originally joined the team via trade from the Raiders and was later dealt to the Cleveland Browns, where he played for two and a half seasons.
A reunion could provide quarterback Dak Prescott with a trusted target as the Cowboys look to bolster their offense without major moves on the trade front.
