Premiering as a realnovela on Mzansi Magic from Thursday, 20 August 2026 at 20:00, the new season promises an intimate look at the lives of Musa Mseleku’s children as they navigate adulthood, relationships, family expectations and personal ambitions. New episodes will air every Wednesday and Thursday, giving viewers even more reasons to tune in.

A spin-off of Uthando neS’thembu, the reality series follows the lives of businessman Musa’s children as they navigate young adulthood while growing up in one of South Africa’s most well-known polygamous families. As they search for love, independence and purpose, they must also balance family expectations, relationships and the unique dynamics of life in a polygamous household.

Familiar faces and new challenges

This season features returning cast members Mpumelelo Mseleku, Sne Mseleku, Lwandle Mseleku, Abongwe Mseleku and Mpiloenhle “Mpilo” Mseleku, alongside the younger generation of the Mseleku family, Mnini, Owami, Mawande and Thando. Joining them are familiar faces, including Khwezi Mazibuko, Tirelo Kale and Amahle Biyela, who play an important role in the family’s story.

As the Mseleku siblings step further into adulthood, they are forced to face the realities of life. From revelations and struggling businesses to complicated relationships and the pressure of family tradition, each of them must find their own way. With their father’s health not being what it used to be, they have to grow up and step up in taking the legacy forward, proving they are capable of building a future that goes beyond the Mseleku name.

Mpilo Mseleku opens up about Season 4

In anticipation of the premiere, we recently caught up with Mpilo, who gave us the tea on what viewers can expect from her this season, how she has changed since audiences first met her, and why this is her most personal chapter yet.

What made you say yes to returning for another season of Izingane zeS’thembu?

Mpilo: I said yes because I felt I still had a story to tell. Every season reflects a different chapter of my life and this one captures a version of me that viewers haven’t really seen before. I wanted to be honest about where I am emotionally and let people see my growth beyond what they may have assumed about me.

Since viewers first met you, how do you think you’ve grown or changed, both personally and within your family?

Mpilo: I’ve grown a lot emotionally. I’ve become more comfortable with expressing how I feel instead of keeping everything bottled up. Within my family, I’ve also learned that my voice matters and it’s okay to stand firm in what I feel while still loving and respecting the people around me.

What was the experience of filming this new season like for you? Was it different from previous seasons?

Mpilo: Very different. This season was much more emotional because I allowed myself to be vulnerable. In the past, I think people mostly saw the surface, but this time, they get to see the pain I’d been carrying and how I navigate it. It felt more real because I wasn’t hiding behind a brave face.

Without giving too much away, what can viewers expect from your journey this season?

Mpilo: Viewers can expect honesty. They’ll see me navigating difficult emotions, learning more about myself, leaning on the people I love, and finding strength through it all.

The realities of living life on camera

What’s been the biggest challenge of having your life documented on reality TV?

Mpilo: The hardest part is knowing that people only see small pieces of your life, but they often form complete opinions about who you are. It can be difficult because there is always so much more happening behind the scenes than what makes it onto the screen.

On the flip side, what’s been the most rewarding or enjoyable part of being on a reality show?

Mpilo: The most rewarding part has been connecting with people. It’s encouraging when viewers reach out to say they relate to something you’ve gone through or that your story made them feel less alone.

Reality TV often comes with public scrutiny. How do you handle people’s opinions about you and your family?

Mpilo: I’ve learned that not every opinion deserves my attention. People will always have something to say, whether it’s positive or negative. As long as I know my truth and the people close to me know who I am, I try not to let outside opinions define me.

Mpilo Mseleku finds her own voice

Coming from such a large family, how do you stay true to yourself and make sure your own voice is heard?

Mpilo: I’ve learned that staying true to yourself starts with knowing who you are. In a big family, it’s easy to get lost in everyone’s personalities and opinions, but I’ve become more confident in speaking up respectfully and standing by my values without feeling like I have to compete with anyone else.

How would you describe your mindset as you head into Season 4?

Mpilo: I’m entering this season with a mindset of growth and healing. I’m choosing honesty over everything, and I’m giving myself permission to be seen. I think that’s one of the bravest things anyone can do.

Why viewers should tune in

Why should people watch?

Mpilo: People should watch because this season is the realest. It’s not just about the drama; it’s about growth, family, friendships, resilience and seeing different sides of the people you’ve come to know over the years. I think viewers will laugh with us, cry with us and hopefully take something meaningful from the journey.
