Bafana tactical analyst does the talking
SoccerBeat shared the clip on X on 25 June 2026, showing Mali addressing the media in Monterrey, Mexico, after the squad secured a 1-0 victory against South Korea at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Mali, who felt he had the last laugh, said, “Others are at home talking. We are here doing the work, that is the difference. Second senior World Cup, [and we are in the] knockout stage. Let them talk.”
According to MDN News, South African Football Association (SAFA) CEO Lydia Monyepao was standing behind Mali and quickly reprimanded him during his mini rant, saying, “Hhayi wena, maan! (Hey, stop it!).”
Monyepao’s attempt to silence Mali didn’t work, as he continued, “No, they must talk.”

Mali also had something to say when he crashed a SuperSport TV post-match interview between Bafana’s 2010 FIFA World Cup scorer Siphiwe Tshabalala and sports presenter Julia Stuart.
“They must never doubt us! They talk at home; we do it here!”

South Africans not pleased with Sinesipho Mali
Several South African social media users showed dissatisfaction after watching the clip, noting that his boldness rubbed them the wrong way.
“The badge belongs to South Africans, not to egos. Fans praised you after the win and criticised you after the Morocco game—that’s football. Celebrate the qualification, but don’t tell supporters to keep quiet when they demand better. Humility lasts longer than hype,” wrote @tcmbhele1.
“Not a single person there was impressed,” stated @JustJosh132.
@AyandaFelemZA told the internet and Mali, “This was unnecessary from Sinesipho, and when he interrupted Shabba and Julia, the remarks were unnecessary. You are backroom staff for a reason; remain there. Let your good job speak. Why would you want to be in the spotlight for the wrong reasons?”
