South African photographer Vino Snap excitedly announced that he would be one of the South African delegates to Mexico during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He thanked the Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, for the monumental opportunity.

Taking to his Facebook account on 4 June 2026, Vino, real name Vincent Matlou, described the opportunity as a once-in-a-lifetime moment. He also showed his appreciation to the Vino Snap community for their support and for always engaging with his work.
Vino, who started his sports photography journey in 2016, added:
“As for my family and other special support structures around me, who always make sure that I don’t get swallowed by the noise and the pressure that comes within my work scope, kai tebohela. My psychological well-being is forever handled with care by my close support structures, as the social media world can be overwhelming at times.”
The appreciation continued as he thanked the Department for assisting him with administration. The Department of Education also received a shout-out for granting him the opportunity to “represent South Africa with excellence.”

Gayton McKenzie recognises Vino Snap’s talent
Hopping onto X, Gayton responded to the announcement and shared with South Africans:
“Every time I attend Kasi football games, he will be there. His presence so obviously motivates the players, and his lens showcases future stars. He will bring hot content.”
Vino Snap gets love from South Africans
His announcement excited many South African social media users, who gathered in the comment section with applause.
Dë Rëál Certified Javas told internet users, “A reminder that hard work and dedication can open doors you once only dreamed of.”
Koboko Fora Francisco Matšomane said to Vino, “Go capture those beautiful moments, and 100 years down the line, the stories will still be shared. You know why? Because a picture tells a thousand words.”
“Congratulations, Vino. It feels good to see associations recognising the work young people are putting in,” wrote Chioniso Mashakada.
