Rowlene tearfully shares her struggles
In her Instagram post, an emotional Rowlene claimed that after finishing a gig in October 2025, she still had not received compensation.
Her caption mentioned something profound, asking, “If this is happening to me, I can only imagine smaller artists trying to navigate this industry man and my heart is just broken… And it’s hard because am I volatile for speaking up? Unfortunately, even after begging for eight months, yeah idk.”
Rowlene’s journey highlights several key struggles common among musicians in South Africa, especially RnB artists. These include difficulties in gaining fair recognition and support, navigating an industry that can be unpredictable and sometimes unforgiving, and the challenge of balancing artistic integrity with commercial demands.
