Veteran South African actor Siyabonga Shibe is making headlines after a frightening incident that has raised fresh concerns about safety in social spaces.

According to recent reports, the popular actor was allegedly drugged and robbed during a night out in Johannesburg, in what appears to be a calculated drink-spiking incident. Siyabonga and a friend were at a restaurant in Bryanston when they were approached by a group of women who reportedly asked for photos before joining their table.

What began as a casual interaction quickly took a troubling turn. After spending time with the group, Siyabonga and his friend began feeling disoriented—an experience they later suspected was the result of their drinks being spiked. The next thing they remember is regaining awareness and discovering that several of their valuables had gone missing.

Among the stolen items were cellphones and a laptop, with the total loss estimated at around R37,000. A case of theft has since been opened with police, and investigations are currently underway.

Siyabonga has since spoken out about the incident, warning the public to remain cautious when socialising, especially with unfamiliar individuals. He also suggested that the robbery may not be an isolated case, but rather part of a broader pattern targeting unsuspecting victims in nightlife settings.

The incident has sparked widespread reaction on social media, with many South Africans expressing shock and concern over the growing number of drink-spiking cases. Others have called for increased awareness and stronger safety measures in public venues.

As the investigation continues, Siyabonga’s experience serves as a stark reminder of the risks that can exist even in seemingly safe environments—and the importance of staying vigilant.
