Is end-of-year fatigue getting the better of you? Here are a few useful ways to overcome it.
Battling with end-of-year fatigue is never an easy thing to do. But for many people, this has become a new reality.
“Fatigue is a familiar feeling that includes symptoms such as burnout, constant exhaustion, or an inexplicable lack of energy. It can affect you mentally or physically since a combination of lifestyle and well-being issues is behind it,” explains Affirnity Health.
The above-mentioned source further adds that while most people confuse it with normal tiredness, it is often much more complex than that.
While tiredness can be solved after taking a decent nap, fatigue often needs lifestyle changes or medical interventions to overcome the feeling.
Some of the biggest contributors to this may include:
- Lack of regular sleep.
- Lack of physical activity.
- Emotional stress.
- Using specific medications such as antidepressants.
- Overconsumption of alcohol and other substances.
While an overproductive work year may be another contributing factor, there are fortunately multiple ways in which this can be countered.
The reputable health and wellness publication Better Health recommends useful adjustments that can be made to your diet to help overcome feeling burnt out and fatigued.
These include:
- Drinking plenty of water: It is said that one can often feel tired because of being dehydrated. Having a glass of water does wonders in helping you feel more energised and refreshed.
- Eat breakfast: Having a well-balanced meal before starting your day is another way of boosting your metabolism, providing you with sufficient energy for the day. However, you would have to limit the intake of caffeine.
Another health and wellness publication, Cleveland Clinic suggests, getting exercise.
“Regular exercise is crucial for a healthy lifestyle. Though it might seem counter-intuitive, vigorous exercise can help you feel more energetic once you get used to it. But exercising too much can cause fatigue, so talk to your provider about what’s best for you,” states the above-mentioned source.
