Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs can officially be dubbed the sharp shooters of South African football following their victory over Orbit College in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday.

The night belonged to Amakhosi, as the team placed the ball behind the nets four times, defeating the opposition by 4 –1 at FNB Stadium.

Mduduzi Shabalala scored a brace, while Mfundo Vilakazi crossed the net for a third goal before super-sub Flavio Da Silva came from the bench to place the game well beyond reach.

The recent victory proved to be what Amakosi needed as they are now placed at the top of the Betway Premiership log.

In reflecting on his team’s performance, coach Cedric Kaze was more than happy with the cohesion he witnessed in the game. However, he cautioned his players not to get carried away but to remain grounded.

Speaking to SABC Sport, he said:

“We need to be humble, we need to work very hard because we have not arrived yet. I know here you win one game, you are the God of football. You lose or you draw one game, you are a plumber or whatever.

“Even in this situation, we need to be very concise in our message to the players. We need to be very humble, we need to work hard because the season is still so far away and it’s in our best interest to keep our momentum,” he explained.

Following their recent performance, they will now shift their attention to Magesi FC.
