Radio personality and cultural activist Ngizwe Mchunu may face punishment after his social media meltdown upon seeing gay men wearing traditional attire on their wedding.

The self-proclaimed president of Amabhinca recently angered the LGBTQIA+ community, leading them to write a formal complaint to the Human Rights Commission against him. In a self-recorded video, Ngizwe, upon seeing a video of men wearing tradition attire in what seemed like their wedding, said: β€œOur traditional attire is everything for our Zulu nation. No LGBTQIA+ community is allowed to wear it.

“He (Somizi) deserves to be arrested, they can’t take the Zulu attire and wear it, even if they can have more money. They are not allowed to wear our traditional attire. I will not speak on behalf of Xhosa people, but here in the Zulu nation we will not allow that. This is 100% wrong. They must go to their government and ask for their traditional attire,” said Ngizwe.

In a humorous video, Somizi reacted to Ngizwe’s rant where he said Somizi must take his people out of South Africa. In a video clip, Somizi took his bags and left, while playing Ngizwe’s sound.

The KZN LGBTQIA+ Recreation Organisation Executive Director, Hlengiwe Buthelezi, told Daily Sun that Ngizwe should be arrested for inciting violence using homophobic slurs, which might later lead to hate crimes and harassment. Hlengiwe also added that they will be taking him to court for infringing on their rights.
