Nomalanga Shozi Dazzles at London Fashion Week, Linking South Africa to Global Style

by Zaghrah Anthony

South Africa’s very own Nomalanga Shozi is making waves on the global fashion stage. The media personality and style icon lit up London Fashion Week this past week, not just as a guest but as part of H&M’s big return to the runway.

A Global Stage, A Local Star

After a seven-year break, H&M staged its comeback show “The London Issue” on September 18, showcasing its Autumn/Winter 2025 collection. More than a catwalk spectacle, it was a cultural celebration of fashion, music, and creativity.

Amid the glittering guest list, Nomalanga turned heads in a striking leather cut-out blazer jacket dress, paired with stockings, black heels, and a chic handbag. Her sleek bangs framed her look perfectly, a blend of effortless glamour and bold personality.

In a press statement, Shozi reflected on the significance of the moment:

“London Fashion Week is an institution, and being here with H&M celebrates our ten-year partnership, from the moment they entered South Africa, I’ve been part of their journey. Everyone knows I love elevated fashion and expressive hair, and this is the platform to express my point of view while connecting South Africa to the global conversation.”

Social Media Moments and Wisdom Kaye

Shozi didn’t just shine on the runway sidelines, she took her fans with her. On Instagram, she gave followers a peek behind the scenes, posting clips and outfit reveals with her signature wit and excitement.

One fan-favourite moment came when she shared a playful exchange with Nigerian-American model and fashion influencer Wisdom Kaye. In the video, she asked him to say her name, and he nailed the pronunciation: “Nomalanga.” Her caption gushed: “Post show meet up with @wisdom, you’re the coolest.”

That lighthearted moment quickly trended among South African fans, with many praising her for showcasing African names and personalities, in a global spotlight.

Fashion with a Local Connection

Shozi’s presence at London Fashion Week felt especially significant for South Africans who have followed her decade-long partnership with H&M. Since the Swedish brand entered South Africa, she has been one of its standout ambassadors, bridging global fashion with local style.

For many fans, her London Fashion Week appearance wasn’t just about clothes, it was about representation. It’s a reminder that African fashion voices are part of the bigger conversation, and Nomalanga is helping keep them front and centre.

What’s Next for H&M in SA?
