Capture stunning snaps anywhere with these easy tricks

by Akhona Ndlela
PICTURE: PEXELS/ TAKING PICTURES

Do you think you don’t have the skills to take a beautiful picture? Well, I suggest that you think again! It’s easier than you might make it out to be to improve your photography skills, even if your shots are more “Oops, I cut off half your head.”

Rest assured,  you don’t need a fancy camera to take these less disappointing pictures.

Actually, you can take striking pictures anywhere, even in your living room, your backyard, or a random street corner! You can quickly transform everyday situations into breathtaking memories by following a few easy steps.

Regardless of whether you feel like you’ve never had “the eye” for photography or you’re the kind of person who shoots 50 pictures and still doesn’t like any of them, I’m here to tell you that you can do this even though this is me trying to convince myself because I am so bad at it.

A few pointers, a little imagination, and perhaps a little fun are all you need.  Ready to take pictures that will look good on Instagram? Take a shot at these easy tips below!

The light matters

Lighting can either enhance or ruin a picture. For that gentle, enchanting glow, try to take your photos during the golden hour (or should I sun-kissed), which is immediately after sunrise or before sunset. Natural light is your best friend. If you’re indoors, take pictures close to a window to get that beautiful, natural light.

Focus on the details

To catch the small details, such as textures, patterns, or expressions, enlarge the image or come a little bit closer.

Work your angles

Avoid taking pictures at eye level! Experiment with different perspectives by taking pictures from above for a unique viewpoint or from below for a dramatic effect.
