They say the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach, and what better time to put that theory to the test than on Valentine’s Day? Whether you’re cooking for a partner, a crush, or just treating yourself (because self-love counts too), a love-inspired meal is more than just fancy ingredients—it’s about creating an experience.

Think rich, velvety flavours, a little touch of romance, and, most importantly, food made with heart, and no, you don’t need to be a Master Chef to pull it off. With a few simple tips, you can whip up a meal that’s delicious, thoughtful, and guaranteed to impress.

First things first, according to Fine Dining Lovers, planning a romantic dinner involves considering lighting, music, decor, and food and drinks. It is stated that candles and soft music set the mood, and outdoor dining can create a beautiful ambience. The mentioned source suggests that table decor can include fresh flowers or special touches, and extend the ambience throughout the home.

When preparing the meal, Culinary Crush suggests that you have these ideas in mind first: for the drinks, you can opt for a tasty, unremarkable wine. If you have a date, they can contribute by bringing the wine, this allows them to feel helpful and allows you to work in the kitchen.

The Happers publication suggests a cheese and charcuterie board, followed by a variety of flavours and nuts. It is stated that you choose a pasta dish that you enjoy, such as spaghetti with mushroom and truffle sauce or shrimp and garlic risotto. It is also suggested that you end the night with a light dessert, fresh fruit, or sweets.
