There have been compelling arguments made about the pros and cons of the extensive development and use of social media over the years. It has allowed normal everyday people to turn into many things, such as journalists and political analysts from the comfort of their phones.

President Cyril took to his podium to reveal that the South African government would be making attempts to come up with sustainable ways for  Nigerian investors who are looking in South Africa’s way, as it is imperative to see Nigerian products on Mzansi’s shelves. Furthermore, the president reveals plans for a simplified five-year multiple-entry visa that will not only create favourable relations between the two countries but will also allow qualifying Nigerian tourists to apply for a visa without submitting a passport.

“We want to enable investors to promote and operate their businesses in a manner that will enable them to pursue various opportunities in various sectors of the economy. We look forward to seeing more Nigerian companies investing in South Africa…” says President Ramaphosa.

Upon stumbling on the president’s announcement, South Africans have put on their political analyst hats as they dissect and discuss their varying opinions on the matter. The general consensus appears to not be on the ANC leader’s side as many users have expressed a range of different negative opinions regarding this situation, highlighting the issues many middle-class and poor South Africans have been voicing.

Furthermore, these users believe that the president’s actions are a reflection of his opinion of his citizens, and believe he continues to act against the interests of the people he ought to be protecting and representing.

A 5-year visa deal? More like a 5-year disaster for South Africa. Ramaphosa is compromising our economy, safety, and sovereignty. Who gave him the right to gamble with our future for his personal benefit?

The same Nigeria that has its citizens in South African dealing with drugs, counterfeit goods, human trafficking, etc, @CyrilRamaphosa is becoming the most hated president in the history of black presidents, this person is disregarding every opinion South Africans have.

Some users have gone to the extent of encouraging others to take matters to the streets to protest against the decision made by Cyril Ramaphosa, while others question whether he and the ANC will make it to the end of their new term in 2028. Some notable names who have been at the forefront when it comes to speaking out about local issues such as Prince Kaybee and Sizwe Dhlomo have also put in their two cents, echoing the sentiments of the many South Africans frustrated by the governance.

After losing a 30 year parliamentary majority? The bus to the station is quicker than anticipated, I might live to see ANC out of power. https://t.co/eT7SQE8Xs4
