South Africa is a country with an extremely rich history, the rainbow nation we’ve come to know and love was built on years of historical events, although some unfavourable and unfortunate. King Misuzulu kaZwelithini is set to “Strengthen bonds of cultural collaboration between the Zulu nation and the Afrikaners,” by delivering the main address at the annual King Dinuzulu Legacy commemoration event.
According to South Africa’s official website, the King Dinuzulu Legacy commemoration event, “Serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of King Dinuzulu and the continued importance of acknowledging shared history.” This event is organised by the Afrikaaner civil rights organisation AfriForum and will be returning for its 110th edition.
King Misuzulu is set to make history as the first traditional monarch to deliver the main address at AfriForum’s event and will be honouring the memory of King Dinuzulu who dedicated his life to the fight against colonialism. The event and the King’s address will take place in Middleburg Mpumalanga, which is where King Dinuzulu took his last breath.
The Zulu nation’s Prime Minister, Thulasizwe Buthelezi believes that this is significant, in that it will strengthen the bonds of cultural collaboration between Zulu and Afrikaans people as it shows mutual respect between both groups.
“AfriForum is, through collaborative projects such as this, building a network of cultural communities that can support each other in the quest to live as cultural communities at the southern tip of Africa,” said the head of intercultural relations and cooperation at AfriForum, Barend Uys.
Although King Zwelithini also alluded to and spoke about the Zulu nation joining forces with groups such as AfriForum to tackle issues plaguing the country, some of the public is under the impression that this is not a smart move by the monarch.

Some users have gone as far as referring to the king as a sellout, highlighting that being endorsed by President Ramaphosa was the first red flag. Furthermore, users feel that the reason the late King Zwelithini had chosen Simakade as his successor was to avoid situations similar to these.
Like I always said, if Ramaphosa endorses an individual, just know that that person is no good. Our fully recognized & legitimate king still remain King Simakade, asjiki.
