Whether you like him or not, it is not difficult to acknowledge that Mthokozisi Khathi, known professionally as DJ Tira is a man with a knack for business. Whether it is managing his own music career or establishing an entirely different company, Tira has consistently made a name for himself, and a year after launching his apple cider brand, the controversial DJ has announced a new and improved ‘Makoya bearings’ look.
Similarly to DJ Tira himself, the Makoya Bearings cider is a product that resonates deeply with the South African population, not only via taste but with its affordability as well. As Tira is always looking for ways to shake up the industry, this new era his brand is stepping into is a good place to start.
As opposed to the cider’s old simplistic logo, Tira has decided to go all in with the new look, incorporating his own image into it. Although this is a risky move for any other artist, Tira’s connection and closeness with his fanbase allows the artist to take such risks.
“Face on a product… Watch how many will follow. Makoya the trendsetter. Are you brave enough? Come join me,” the Afrotainment owner said.

This makeover is a testament to Tira’s consistent evolution and ability to stay relevant by establishing closeness with the people he is catering to. Although this new and improved look is set to take the streets by storm, Tira has assured the same great flavour fans of the drink have come to know and love. This relaunch also comes right on time, as South Africans are slowly gearing up for the festive season, and is sure to stand out.
Fans and supporters are just as excited as Tira for this new and exciting era, with some users voicing their frustration about the product being unavailable in their region.
“Is it available in Limpopo? We also want to drink it. So where can we find it?” one user says.
Limpopo e gona? Nathi sefuna ukuyi phuza. Manje manje sethola kuphi?
