In a shocking video shared by @Abramjee on X, Radio broadcaster Thomas Holmes, known as Tom London, has exposed appalling conditions at Helen Joseph Hospital.

Tom London details a grim experience that highlights severe issues within the hospital facility.

In the video shared on X, Tom London describes a deeply disturbing scene where a deceased patient, who had been dead for some time, was left unattended in a hospital bed. The footage shows the body lying neglected in the hospital bed.

He further criticised the hospital’s infrastructure, pointing out malfunctioning taps, roof ceilings and non-working electrical plugs.

He also recounts his own experiences, noting that he was assigned a new doctor whom he never saw for days and he received no updates on his health status. He also describes a troubling incident involving a patient who complained of severe pain but was met with a dismissive response from the doctor.

In addition, in an interview with Kaya 959, Tom London details how flies infested the ward due to the deceased body which was unattended.

According to BrieflyNews, it was through this video that Cecilia, the mother of Nicholas van Burick, learned of her son’s death. Cecilia reported that no doctor informed her of her son’s cause of death, and she was never offered condolences. Additionally, she was told she would need to pay a fee to release her son’s body from the hospital.

Tom London expressed his gratitude to the public and Minister of Sport Gayton McKenzie for their support. The publication revealed that funds donated by the public enabled him to receive treatment from a private pulmonologist at Morningside Clinic in Sandton, previously reported on The South African.
