Former Ukhozi FM radio personality and outspoken traditionalist, Ngizwe Mchunu found himself at the centre of an in-flight commotion at King Shaka International Airport in Durban. Ngizwe, who was on a flight from Cape Town caused a stir when he and some commuters began chanting Zulu traditional songs as they boarded the plane.
In a post shared on X by @Mlimo_Insider in the plane, Ngizwe is heard saying that this is King Shaka International Airport and that the Zulu culture must be respected.
The display of Zulu culture quickly caught the attention of fellow passengers, some of whom felt uncomfortable with the loud and continuous chanting. This led to complaints from flight attendants, approaching Ngizwe politely requesting them to stop as the plane was about to land.
However, this request was met with resistance from Ngizwe who is known for his strong beliefs of celebrating Zulu traditions.

Taking to the comments people expressed mixed reactions. Some praised Ngizwe for standing up for his culture, while others were not as supportive. Many were concerned that his actions might cast a negative light on the Zulu community as a whole.

Another user said, “Now he is even used to drag our name down as uZulu… sdididi somuntu… this is not our image.”
One commenter wrote, “Unfortunately he is right. “King Shaka International Airport. Why doesn’t it represent King Shaka and tribal culture??.”
Another said, “He must be banned from airports.”
