A busy schedule can keep you from getting work done and can be very frustrating when chasing important deadlines.

It is as if you are trying to stay above water but unable to.

Here are tips from experts on how to handle a busy schedule:

“A well-planned day helps in maintaining focus. Meetings, assignments, everyday tasks, emails, ‘you’ time, and social activities can quickly add up to a hectic schedule if not planned correctly,” states the Career Support website.

According to the job search portal Indeed, one way to prevent feeling overwhelmed is to break up complicated work into smaller, easier tasks. By doing this, you can gradually move closer to the main objective.

Prioritising your work can help you finish the most important tasks first. This will help you feel less stressed or uncertain about things such as the tasks closest to the deadline, the importance of the client, your personal importance, and any particular requirements made by management, the above portal suggests.

LifeHack warns against overcommitting. It is inevitable to have a hectic schedule if you’re the type of person who agrees to do everything that is asked of you. As a result, you may develop a negative attitude towards work if you find yourself taking on more responsibilities and tasks than you can handle.

The above-mentioned source also suggests another strategy to manage a hectic schedule which is to delegate responsibilities to others, if you have the capability of doing so. Effective delegation is an essential skill that any person in a leadership role needs to have.
