According to Sunday World, the team Luyanda worked with on the telenovela informed her that she would need to change her look for the role, and that included her hair.

Speaking to the publication she said, “You may be wondering why I am so excited to have my hair back, so a year ago I booked a job for the Sibongile character, and they told me that they wanted to do something different with my hair.

“When I got to work for the make-up check, they told me that they wanted to cut my hair because Sibongile is from Ixopo and they wanted to give her a natural look,” she said.

The thespian added that she sacrificed her hair for the job and she does not regret it, and said it was worth it.

Reasons of her departure on the show are unclear, however Luyanda shared on social media that an older actor was mistreating her.
