Want to get your nails done but can’t seem to find the time or you find nail techs charging too much for their services? Try these steps to ensure your gel manicure lasts longer.

Monthly visits to your nail tech can be daunting for some and even though nail appointments are fun and relaxing one needs to make sure that they aren’t constantly changing their nails as it could end up damaging your nail bed in the long run.

A gel manicure can either be done on your natural nails or as an overlay to your acrylic nails and according to GlamourSA you need to make sure your nails are clean and trimmed before application as the gel manicure will help your nails grow longer and more healthier.

Here are 8 ways to make your gel manicure last longer provided by Gel Polish Factory:

  1. Avoid using creams and oils before applying gel polish.
  2. Do not do your nails shortly after a shower.
  3.  Carefully prepare your nails before applying gel polish.
  4. To dry the nail plate, apply the ‘Prep & Prime’ nail primer.
  5. For gel polish, use a nail lamp with at least 48W of power and a wavelength of 360-405nm.
  6. Gently massage the base coat into your nails while avoiding touch with the skin and cuticles.
  7. With each application of gel paint, you protect your nail’s tip against premature wear, lifting, and chipping.
  8. Apply thin, consistent layers to ensure maximum healing and durability.
