Woman’s Tinder date turns into robbery nightmare

In the digital age of romance where swipes lead to dates and potential connections, online dating has a darker side.

South African TikTok user shared details of how she got robbed, according to user @jessxmphoentle she met a guy on the Tinder dating app, and they planned to meet in person.

she was on a date with the man and he stole her iPhone. She also revealed that the guy ordered a bottle of Hennessy and left her to pay the bill.

The video struck a chord with viewers as many shared their own tales of online dating robbery.

One social media user wrote, “I also got robbed by this other guy, we went on a double date with my friend and on our way there in the car they took out a gun and they took our phones and money, but we didn’t get hurt 😞 abafana gevaar.”

Another social media user said, “Also went through the same, luckily the security caught him.”

According to Tinder’s safety policy centre, they take the safety, security and well-being of their users seriously as they take pride in connecting millions of people every day.

They also offer safety tips online and through the app to educate users to make smart and safe choices.

They encourage all users to report any unacceptable behaviour so that their team can investigate and take appropriate action.

The South African government advises that if you are a victim of a crime, you must report the incident at the nearest South African police station.
