Phat Joe allegedly evicted from luxury Sea Point apartment

by Sergio Miller

With the constant spikes in inflation, and the increasing cost of petrol and food in general, life as an ordinary citizen can become tough.

It is even more so the same for television and radio presenter Phat Joe, according to reports by multiple news publications including IOL, the bubbly 49-year-old was recently evicted from his luxury seaside apartment in Sea Point, Cape Town.

The above-mentioned publication noted that Phat Joe whose real name is Majota Khambule’s inability to keep up with his rent is what led to the unfortunate circumstances.

It is reported that the last time he paid his rent was in November 2022, and the outstanding payments have since accumulated to over R600,000.

However, IOL points out that Phat Joe accused someone of feeding lies to the court to have him evicted.

According to a report by News24, he allegedly said: “This person, along with their family and accomplices, has restored to threats and fraudulent attempts to extort R267 000 from me by making false claims and misleading the courts.”

The Real Goboza presenter later said that this is an ongoing legal matter which encompasses several civil and criminal cases including assault.

He was eventually handed an order by the Western Cape High Court to be evicted from the apartment by 31 May, however, he and his wife Palesa Morgan left the property on the 19th of April.
