Limpopo singer and record producer Khutso Steven Kgatle, popularly known as King Monada, is being sued by an organiser for not pitching for one of his booked gigs.

As per reports by ZiMoja, King Monada, famously known for his 2016 hit singles Ska Bhora Moreki and Malwedhe, was sued by the Limpopo Arts Movement (LAM) for being a no-show, adding that this was not his first incident of not attending gigs he was paid for, as in December 2023, he failed to perform at Sasha Lifestyle in Thembisa after being paid R60,000, causing fans to raid his house in anger.

The LAM chairman, Mphoza Mashabela, told SundayWorld that this event was set to honour veteran musicians such as Caiphus Semenya, Letta Mbulu, Penny Penny, Sello Galane, and many more.

Mphoza also told ZiMoja that he was suing King Monanda for his non-attendance at the event and damages.

Thobejane Incorporation, who is representing Mphoza, states that they contacted the record producer to demand a refund of the fee of R35,000 that was paid to him.

In the entertainment industry, gig organisers pay artists an appearance fee for them to perform at their events.

In a recent interview with the above-mentioned source, Harry Thobejane of Thobejane Incorporate said:

“What happened was that Monada was paid R35,000 by Lila to perform at the event last year. But he failed to pitch up. So Makwela wrote a letter to my clients stating Monada would perform at this year’s event, and they agreed.”
