WATCH: TikToker explains how she spent R8k on a meal

TikToker Lesedi Mashale shared her lavish fine dining experience at an ‘abstract cuisine’ restaurant in Woodstock with a hefty price tag.

Everyone wants to experience a dinner with all the trimmings, but one thing must be determined ahead of time: the cost.

Mashale, who calls herself ‘bougie’ and a lover of all things luxe, recently revealed that she spent a whopping R8 343.25 on dinner.

She posted a video a few days ago about her experience at the exclusive Rikū Chef’s Counter at the Old Biscuit Mill in Cape Town.

The well-decorated Chef Rikku O’Donnchu opened the restaurant, which has a seating capacity of only 12 guests as well as a list of prescriptive regulations guests are subject to when booking.

@lesedi_mashale The price of this meal for 2 was astronomical, wow. Dinner was a treat and the food 9/10 though. Margarita was the second best i’ve ever had #fyp #datenight #dinnerincapetown #michelinstar ♬ original sound – Lesedi Mashale

‘Chef Rikku is the former Executive/Head Chef of prestigious restaurants, Global Best Restaurant 2019 GÅTE Stellenbosch – 5 Diamond Amorette In Pennsylvania US – Immersion, collaborating with Michelin Star restaurants from around the US – Michelin Star Restaurant Adam’s in Birmingham UK and Michelin Korean fusion restaurant in Orlando US, DOSHI,’ states the eatery’s website.

Lesedi shared her story, stating that they had to pay a deposit to visit the restaurant and that the bill included not only the dinner menu (R1 995 per person) but also the drink pairing (R1 490 per person).

That is fine for a restaurant of this calibre; it is as if they were having dinner and a show, with the food serving as the entertainment.

However, at R95 for a bottle of water, you can expect to leave with a full tummy but a rather empty wallet.
